Talent

  • Christopher Arndt

Christopher Arndt wrote music and played bass for the original Baggage Claim band (1988-1992). Then life happened. He moved to New York City in 1994 and worked as an equity analyst and later a partner at an asset management firm. In 2010, Mr. Arndt left finance to turn his attention to public policy issues, such as accelerating the adoption of clean energy. He was a Co-director of the New York Chapter of Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), an advocacy group that makes the business case for strong environmental policy.

Through advocacy work with Environmental Entrepreneurs and, as a board member of the NRDC Action Fund, Mr. Arndt observed first hand a growing extremism in American politics, particularly on the American Right. In 2016, he authored his first book, The Right’s Road to Serfdom: The Danger of Conservatism Unbound from Hayek to Trump. The book offers a framework to explain the trajectory of the American Right leading to Donald Trump as the standard-bearer of the American GOP.

Mr. Arndt now lives in Telluride, Colorado, with his wife, Patty, and their two children. In 2019, Arndt returned to song writing and playing bass. In 2021, his band, The Doc Project, recorded its first album, Lost Bags, set to be released in 2022.
